With people across the world currently reeling from the effects of Coronavirus, we hope you and your loved ones are safe, healthy and staying sane in these trying and uncertain times.
The hospitality industry has been hit especially hard. In our newsletter this week, we’ve compiled a few ways in which we can all support our favorite venues.
How to Support our Industry
The hospitality industry is hurting right now, as we all are during this crisis. Here are a few things you can do to help the industry in these difficult and uncertain times. Many bars and restaurants are offering vouchers to be redeemed once they reopen, while other bars are delivering pre-bottled cocktails. There are also a number of bars going online to raise tips for their team members. GoFundMe have also launched an initiative to support small businesses. Organizations such as the Drinks Trust have raised more £400,000 to date in support of the drinks industry. BarLifeUK have compiled a database of resources for people working in drinks and hospitality here.
In the UK, DrinkUp.London has compiled a comprehensive guide of ways in which to support bars and restaurants, even while they are closed. BarChick has also made a list of London bars offering vouchers and delivery/takeaway.
These are just a few of the ways to get involved, but there is a lot more we can do to support our favorite venues during these difficult times — if you can afford to, please help however you can!
Last year we did a series of #8secondtommys cocktail competitions across the world. With all of us stuck at home, we figured we would revive the competition. Simply post your videos to instagram using the hashtag #8secondtommys (make sure the post is public so that we can see it!). Fastest time gets a bottle of Ocho and a copy of Tomas Estes’s Tequila Ambassador book. There are also runner-up prizes for Best Soundtrack, Best Outfit and Most Entertaining videos.
We have been hosting a series of Livestreams featuring our founder Tomas Estes — keep an eye out on our Tequila Ocho Facebook Page for upcoming livestreams.
Our partners in Holland, Bart’s Bottles, have also set up Bart’s Academy, which will host a number of different masterclasses online.
Where We’re Drinking This Month
With most of us currently on some level of lockdown, we have been getting creative with making cocktails at home. Follow us on Instagram to stay up to date with our recipes for making cocktails at home, quizzes, competitions and more.
If you’re having trouble getting a bottle of Ocho for your house, email Jesse Estes at email@example.com or simply respond to this email.
Until next month, #StayHome & keep sipping good tequila,
