The terms ‘craft’, ‘artesanal’, ‘small-batch’, ‘handmade’, etc are bandied about by brands so often now that the words themselves have become meaningless or even banal. Although Ocho does espouse all of these concepts, we have found a term that best describes what we do, in just one word: Meraki.
Difficult to translate completely from Greek to English, the word means all of the following: to do something with love, patience, passion; with absolute devotion and undivided attention. A task (usually involving creativity) carried out with eagerness, enthusiasm, zeal, ardour and complete love; a labour of love, if you will.
Although Ocho is produced using only Blue Agave and water, the third – intangible – ingredient is probably the most important: The Meraki. The Soul and Love that goes into each batch of tequila we produce.
In honour of this wonderful term, coined by wonderful people, we are featuring a special edition of our monthly Newsletter dedicated to our friends in Greece & Cyprus.

Take a look at this fantastic menu from Dimitris Tsiamis. The excerpt from the menu simply blew us away. Well worth a read, especially for fans of Hunter S. Thompson, from whom he took inspiration for the menu.
Our friends from Liverpool, John Ennis & Matthew Farrell were featured in Esquire’s Big Black Book, and were kind enough to include a bottle of Ocho in their photo!
Tequila Ocho has been again featured for its participation in the Bat-Friendly Program. Click here to see the recent article in Cool Green Science.
Jesse traveled to Stockholm earlier this month to put on Masterclasses at Tjoget and Eatery Social and a guest bartending shift at Tjoget. Big thanks to our importer Barkonsult for organizing a great visit and to everyone that came out to our events!

What we’re drinking this month
This month’s featured cocktail comes to us by way of James Kandimiris in Rhodes.
Can you keep a secret? This cocktail has one for you. Beyond the combination of Ocho tequila blanco and masticha liqueur, the agave and sweet rose dessert, the lime and the yogurt, you will find a spoon of masticha and rose submerged in your cocktail. Keep it for the end, enjoy it while you sip, the choice is yours. Get creative.
